KEZIAH JONES

“...a stunning amalgamation of African beats, funk and rock” – Digital Music

In the country for his Bluesfest debut, the charismatic Nigerian musician Keziah Jones is joining Trombone Shorty for a selection of exclusive dates on his 2015 Australian tour.

Keziah Jones’ musical style is "Blufunk", a fusion between raw blues elements and hard, edgy funk rhythms.

Born among the ghettos of Lago, Jones also goes by the name of ‘Captain Rugged’, his quirky and socially committed double. He has honed a craft of sharing the powerful story of his country, emphasising the necessity of creating music that relates directly to reality, following in the footsteps of FelaKuti, a fellow countryman and great defender of pan-Africanism who was imprisoned several times for speaking against the Nigerian dictatorship.

Start counting down the days until you see this musical super-hero!
